Description
From high atop the nearly 9,000 ft ledge, I was able to take a photo of these ruins of the ancient Anasazi people, decendants of the Najavo people.
On the rock face above these ruins are NOT graffiti from modern days, but RATHER, petroglypys of these ancient people. The symbol that is similar to the swastica, is actually an ancient symbol of luck and peace. It is still used today by many of the artists of the Navajo Nation.
Above the larger house, on the rock wall, are animals. I am still trying to remember all of the meanings, but the brilliance of these builders is totally incredible!

Thank you Denise for reading all of the information! I didn't want people to think that terrible graffiti had ruined this beautiful ruin!

James, it is totally an amazing site. It is the only park which is totally run by the Navajo tribe. They run treks into the canary on and also many families live in the canyons. It is truly one of the places which we plan to revisit!

The swastika is a symbol of growth, prosperity, and profit. It is widely used by businessmen in India. All Indian gods are bespangled with this mark and all festivals prayers begin with a drawing of swastika sign before gods with turmeric powder paste. Sure, it means luck and peace too. A wonderful snap of this ancient remnant! Thanks for sharing. F/L.
