Description
Damaged by earthquakes along the Central California Coast, this beautiful old adobe wall of Mission San Miguel near Atascadero, California, now sits crooked and has lost some of the plaster. The wooden beam under the arch testifies as to the crooked wooden door. Spanish influence is present on the metal hinges that decorate the door. Such beauty.
This door once was used as an entrance for residents and visitors who lived in and around the Mission. There are many beautiful arched doorways throughout this magnificent mission. As with most California missions, cactus are prevalent at missions. They provided food and fibers for weaving. River rocks also dot the scenery as many missions were near rivers for water supply.
Mission San Miguel is a beautiful mission.
