You are welcome. Glad You are not annoyed by me pointing out the name of the flower. I have seen others mis-identified flowers too on this site. One person called Bauhinia × blakeana as orchid. While the layman term for this flower is Hong Kong orchid (which should never been named that), it is not even close to an orchid. It is a flowering tree. Hong Kong people don’t even call in Hong King orchid, let along just “orchid.” My father on other other hand, can’t tell the difference one type of flowers to the next. When I was little he told all those summer flowers in the public neighborhood garden were peonies and it took me many years to found out they were dahlias. He came my house one time and asked me why my dahlias smell so nice. It was my rose!

This is a lovely wild from all over California and the west coast where the land isn’t too wet. It is quite beautiful. It is not a poppy though. Per Wikipedia: Calochortus venustus is a California species of flowering plants in the lily family known by the common name butterfly mariposa lily.
