Description
Mourning Dove are daily visitors at my home. When a mating pair are actively courting, it is fun to watch as they preen their feathers, preen each other, and gently give each other a peck of love.
The mourning dove is a member of the dove family, Columbidae. The bird is also known as the American mourning dove, the rain dove, and as the turtle dove. A Mourning Dove may have 6 broods a year, and their sound is often mistaken for that of an owl.
