On the hills of the Tehachapi Mountains in Kern County, are multiple rows and rows of large windmills gathering renewable energy from the wind. They are the Tehachapi Wind Farm and can be seen driving along Route 58 east of Bakersfield, California. Massive instruments, they are larger than life. The original wind turbines stood 40-50 feet high, yet today, they stand 400-500 feet high. They are monstrous! Each turbine can produce 1 to 2.4 megawatts each. Each time I travel this stretch or road, I marvel at the magnificent power of the wind, but also the magnificent ingenuity of man!
