Description
If I were a small insect, I would not want to meet my demise at the arms or jaws of a Praying Mantis…until I looked closely at the photos I took of this mantis today, I did not realize what sharp “talons” they had nor what sharp barbs these mantis haves. To me, it looks as if any small insect is impaled by the defense mechanisms on the Mantis legs. To say the least, I thought it was just their quick flash like speed at capturing their prey. I had heard that it was their powerful jaws that were the biggest hurdle to a small insect. Now, I can see the deadly and sharp portions of his legs…nature is always amazing.

I used to keep a praying mantis as a pet. I noticed the barbs on the forelegs. Beautifully clear picture! Interesting pose.
